There is little
doubt that Global Warming is happening. Regardless of
how much is due to nature, and how much is due to our
activities and inaction, it's important to take steps
to Protect Our Climate. Speak up and take part in a
discussion to find solutions that we and our children
all can live with.
The signs of global warming
are all around us, from melting glaciers to stifling
heat waves. The 10 hottest years on record have all
occurred since 1990, and scientists say global warming
is likely to disrupt water supplies, flood coastal areas,
increase disease outbreaks and cause fragile lands,
such as alpine meadows and coastal marshes, to vanish.
So it's time for you to get involved
in the discussions and help find answers that we and
our children can live with.

Last
week we reported on some research from UPenn professor
Karl Ulrich, who also happens to the founder of
TerraPass, that came to the contrarian conclusion that
bicycles offer little benefit to the environment. The
nub of the argument is that bicycle riders are healthier
than non-cyclists, and their increased longevity places
a drain on energy resources that largely cancels out
the gas savings from cycling.

How
To Give Your Parents “The Talk” - You
recycle, you drive a fuel efficient car, you buy organic
food, you turn the thermostat down at night: in short,
you are trying your best to make this world a better
place. Your parents however still use incandescent light
bulbs, still don’t recycle, and still look at
you like an alien every time you suggest they trade
in their giant land tank for something more sensible.
If this sounds like your life it’s time for “the
talk.”
The
Evidence for Global Warming
Last weekend I had a chance to chat with a world-renowned
scientist in the field of global climate change. His
assessment, and I quote, "We're f*cked." He
told me he does not say this publicly because he does
not want to encourage the, "So why try?" response.
He definitely believes there are still major things
we humans can do to limit the severity of the coming
disaster.

Global
Warming: An Open Discussion
By Brian Neudorff
The discussion of Global Warming continues to make headlines
and probably will, as much if not more, as we go through
2007. Here are some of the headlines today:
I am still figuring out exactly what I think about
global warming, but I don't think this kind of reporting
on the issue is going to change any minds.

CNN's
O'Brien Insists Global Warming Debate Is Over
By Brad Wilmouth | July 23, 2007 - 00:04 ET
On the Friday July 20 The Situation Room on CNN, substitute
anchor Miles O'Brien insisted that, regarding the role
of carbon emissions in global warming, "the scientific
debate is over," as he lectured former Republican
Congressman J.C. Watts on the subject. In response to
Watts' contention that "I don't believe the Earth
is melting because of carbon emissions," O'Brien
responded: "Well, you're not paying attention to
the science, J.C. You're definitely not paying attention.
... The scientific debate is over, J.C., we're done."
